19 Jan I eat more now and weigh less
2 years ago, I weighed 327lbs. Today I weigh 203lbs. That’s 124lbs lost!!
I had been dealing with serious breakouts since 2009/2010 and every doctor or dermatologist said I had Atopic Dermatitis, and they’d give me Cortisone cream or something. The dermatologist in Asheville would give me a Hydro-cortisone shot, but that was a little band-aid on the problem. The next day I’d feel ok, but a week later I’d go back to feeling awful. The diagnosis was always dermatitis, and I spent so much money on lotions and creams. No doctor would tell me what was going on, but I knew there was something causing my skin to break out. The dermatologist charged $100 or so per visit and just said that If I’d lose 100lbs, my skin issues would take care of themselves. I didn’t need to spend that kind of money for him to tell me to lose weight. I wanted to fix the problem and be done with it instead of going back to the doctor for creams. It was so frustrating!
I started this total lifestyle change in January of 2016 and in June of 2017, I was introduced to Nutrition Response Testing. Since then, I just try to follow whatever Jenny tells me to do. My plan was to take care of the weight first then kick the smoking habit. There’s never been any judgement when I walk in. Jenny and everyone is there to get you better not put you down or tell you everything you’re doing wrong. They’re just amazing and always so encouraging!
As I lost weight, it brought out more layers and more break outs, but I knew I was getting rid of what my body couldn’t handle. Wheat. Corn. Sugar. No processed foods. No soft drinks. No fast food. The difference is like day and night! I eat real food! I eat more now, better now, and weigh less. Sugar used to be my drug; I’d get up and drink a sweet tea with lemon. I’d skip meals until supper…but drink about a gallon of tea a day!! That was 2000 calories from sugar alone every day and, of course, my weight went up a couple pounds here and there so I didn’t think about it.
Other than a regular check-up, I don’t go to a regular doctor anymore. They never talked to me about eating well, losing weight, and living a healthy lifestyle. Doctors focus on the questions about smoking and drinking rather than looking at the bigger picture of my health. But you can be a non-smoker and put all that junk food in your body and be just as unhealthy as someone who does smoke.
I recommend that, when you’re out shopping, read ingredients on everything! If you don’t recognize it, can’t pronounce it, or don’t know what it is, your body won’t know what to do with it either.
God made your body to know how to take care of itself and we’ve messed it all up. You have to do your part, but your body will fix itself. It’s exciting!! I love coming down to the office, and I love getting back on track! I wish more people knew about it, would give it a try, would consider it. The first visit was kind of weird, but it makes all the difference because you can change everything! The visits are always quick and Jenny never wastes my time…so I never want to waste hers by not following through.
